Weekly Class Program

Humpty Sports is a quality multi-sports program that provides a range of activities for children of all abilities. The program is specifically designed for children 2½ – 7.
Sports and activities include

  • Tennis, football, basketball, soccer, t-ball, hockey, cricket, volleyball
  • Relays, obstacle course, and balance and sports stations
  • Locomotor skills: running, hopping, galloping, jumping, skipping, sliding, leaping
  • Throwing and catching skills

Our program has 6 levels, each level is designed to meet the physical, emotional and social development needs of children in that age group. This enables them to learn, develop and excel in a fun and safe environment and encourages a positive attitude to sport and physical activity that will last a lifetime.

Aims

  • To increase each child’s self-esteem through educational movement and sporting activities
  • To lay the foundations of skills, concepts and attitudes so that children can confidently and competently become lifelong sport participant.
  • To challenge children to participate in a wide variety of balance, ball, racquet, midline, spatial awareness, and agility skills – to name just a few!!!
  • Programming is based on placing children in non-competitive situations where they are successful, while chal- lenging them to improve in their abilities

Programs
Classes are for ONE hour.  Each class consists of a song and stretch routine, locomotor warm up, TWO sporting activities and, time permitting, a game. Our new Bilby program only runs for 30 minutes and consists of a song, one sporting and activity and a locomotor sport based circuit.

Levels & Age Groups
The Humpty Sports Program has 6 age based levels; each level building on the skills developed on the one before and has specific age appropriate goals. The levels are:

  • 1½ – 2 ¼ year (Bilby)
  • 2½ – 3½ years (Koala)
  • 3½ – 4 years (Wombat)
  • 4 – 4½ years (Echidna)
  • 4½ – 6 years (Kookaburra) – Preschoolers
  • 5 – 7 years (Joey) – School Children

Bilbys
Aged 1½ to 2¼ years
This is our new starting level of the humpty program and is a steppingstone to our Koala program. This program aims to introduce children to fundamental movement, coordination and sport specific skills in a safe, friendly and fun environment. At this level we focus on developing independence, confidence, cooperation and turn taking. Classes are 30 minutes, require parent assistance and are run by energetic and professional staff, who encourage a positive attitude to sport and physical activity.

Koalas
Aged 2½ to 3½ years
This is the start of the humpty program is an introduction to basic fundamental skills. A variety of games are set in place to develop balance, movement and motor skills as well as listening to instructions. Children will participate more as their confidence grows and they get used to the routine.

Wombats
Aged 3½ to 4 years
This is the next progression. Children are able to listen to and follow instruction much better thus becoming a little more independent. This allows us to develop further their gross motor skills (locomotor and nonlocomotor); fine motor skills (hand-eye and foot-eye co-ordination) and their balance and posture.

Echidnas
Aged 4 to 4½ years
At Echidna level we challenge children’s skills more and introduce new concepts. Teaching pace will increase and team play is encouraged at this level. There will be a little more focus on technique thus preparing them for more formal sporting activities

Kookaburras
Aged 4½ years+
At this level the emphasis is on teamwork and game play while still fine tuning existing skills, allowing for a deeper understanding of all sports. Your child will leave the program confident and ready to participate in school sports and activities.

Joeys
Aged 5 to 7 years
The Joeys program is designed specifically for children aged 5 – 7 years who are at school and provides a great opportunity for them to continue to develop a diverse range of skill. The focus at this level is to develop more advance skills, build fitness, learn more about game play, meet sporting challenges and to have fun.
